CBSE Board Examination Guidelines for Class X & XII

A Complete Guide for Students of New Cambridge International Public School

Board examinations are an important milestone in every student’s academic journey. At New Cambridge International Public School (NCIPS), we believe that success in examinations is not just about preparation, but also about discipline, clarity, and confidence. Understanding and following the CBSE Board Examination Guidelines ensures a smooth and stress-free experience for every student.

This comprehensive guide will help Class X and Class XII students stay organised and fully prepared on exam day.

1. Reporting Time – Be Punctual, Be Prepared

Time management begins even before you enter the examination hall.

  • Reporting Time: 9:30 AM
  • Last Entry: 10:00 AM sharp
  • Exam Commences: 10:30 AM
  • No late entry will be allowed after 10:00 AM.

Arriving early gives you time to settle down, verify your details, and mentally prepare. Reaching late can cause unnecessary stress, so plan your travel accordingly.

2. Mandatory Items – What You Must Carry

Students must ensure they bring the following essential items:

  • CBSE Admit Card (Printed and Signed)
  • School Identity Card
  • Stationery (Blue/Royal Blue ballpoint pen, pencil, eraser, scale)
  • Transparent stationery pouch
  • Transparent water bottle (without labels)

Double-check your exam kit the previous evening to avoid last-minute confusion.

3. Dress Code – Maintain Discipline

Students are expected to:

  • Wear proper school uniform
  • Maintain a neat and disciplined appearance
  • Avoid fancy footwear or unauthorised accessories

Following the dress code reflects responsibility and respect for examination decorum.

4. OMR & Answer Sheet Rules – Write Carefully

Accuracy matters as much as knowledge.

  • Use only blue or royal blue ballpoint pen
  • Fill in details carefully (no use of whitener)
  • Write the question paper code correctly
  • Do not write on the question paper (except Roll Number where instructed)

Small mistakes in OMR filling can lead to unnecessary complications, so read instructions carefully before starting.

5. Time Management Tips – Smart Strategy Wins

Board exams test both knowledge and planning.

  • First 15 Minutes: Read and plan your answers
  • Do not get stuck on difficult questions; move ahead and return later
  • Last 15 Minutes: Revise and review your answers
  • Use remaining time effectively to attempt pending questions

Strategic time management can significantly improve performance.

6. Hall Discipline – Maintain Integrity

Inside the examination hall:

  • Maintain strict silence
  • Stand in a single file when instructed
  • Raise your hand to call the invigilator

Examinations demand discipline and integrity from every student.

7. Strictly Prohibited Items

The following items are not allowed inside the examination hall:

  • Electronic gadgets (mobile phones, earphones, Bluetooth devices)
  • Smartwatches and digital watches (only analogue watches permitted)
  • Study materials (books, notebooks, chits)
  • Calculators, pen drives, electronic pens

Violation of these rules may result in serious consequences.

8. Unfair Means (UFM)

Any involvement in cheating, passing chits, or carrying banned items will lead to immediate cancellation of the examination and possible debarment from future exams.

Excellence must always be achieved with honesty.
